Stoney Darkstone’s work exists in a world between fashion and art, blurring lines between fantasy and reality, the figurative and the abstract. It lies between a digital universe and the real world, creating figures who are both sensitive and fierce, sensual and strong.
Darkstone challenges our notions of reality, beauty and femininity. A successful fashion photographer, he pursued a parallel world when creating his art which increasingly distorted the nude and challenged twenty-first century conventions of beauty.
Darkstone started by creating his artwork for Instagram, and it was only recently that he decided it should take a physical, printed form. He is incredibly excited by the fact that his visual language can now shapeshift into a physical medium.
